BELL BAY ALUMINIUM is situated on the Tamar River, approximately 5kms from George Town and 45kms from Launceston. With 478 full time equivalent employees and on a typical day between 60 to 90 contractors undertake work at the smelter. 


THE AIM is to provide  preventative measures by detecting people who display symptoms of fever and high temperature above 37.8˚C which may potentially be due to COVID-19. 

THE SOLUTION was to utilise the BTM-T5 thermal camera to measure and screen staff and contractors as they pass through from one end to the other side of the block. 
A screen monitor has been installed to display the temperature reading in real-time. The data is analysed and monitored for further action if body temperature exceeds 37.8˚C.

Australia’s largest integrated iron ore mining and pellet production business located in the northwest region of Tasmania. The Savage River magnetite iron ore mine, 100km Southwest of Burnie, is a long-life mining asset set to continue operation to the year 2034.


THE AIM is to provide a safe and secure working environment for their staff and contractors by using preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other fever related conditions such as flu.
